Library Card Policy

The Nanuet Public Library, a member of the Ramapo Catskill Library System (RCLS), is chartered by New York State to provide materials and services to residents of the Nanuet Union Free School District (NUFSD)

You can apply in person or by filling out this online application. Fill in all required fields. We will notify you by email when your card is processed. Please bring a current picture ID and official mail that displays your address to pick up your card. Children under 16 need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Replacement card cost $3.

Museum passes are available to Nanuet Public Library cardholders. The loan period is 3 days. Passes must be returned in person to the circulation desk. A $5.00 fee will be charged to anyone that returns the pass in the bookdrop or to another library. The overdue fines are $10 per day. Passes are limited to 1 pass per family. Passes cannot be renewed. Replacement costs for lost passes is the museum’s membership charge to the Friends of the Library for a replacement pass.

Passes cannot be put on hold but will be held for a maximum of thirty minutes provided that the desired pass is available at the time the request is made. Please call or stop by the circulation desk to check on the availability of a pass.

Please check the website of each museum before your visit to note current hours, special exhibits and other information. It is the borrower’s responsibility to confirm hours of operation, exhibits, parking fees, etc.

Hold or Renew Items

  • Put an Item on Hold
    • Go to the library catalog

      Search the item youwish to request. On the top right of every item record, there is ablue box that says ‘Place Hold’. Click this link. Enter your barcodenumber from the back of your library card. Your PIN is the last fourdigits of your phone number. Click login. The catalog will requestthat you choose a pickup location for your item, then click ‘PlaceHold’. The next page will confirm that your request has beensuccessful.
  • Renew my Items
    • Go to the library catalog

      On the top right ofthe screen there is a link called ‘My Account’. When you click on it,a screen will pop up asking for your barcode number and a pin.Your PIN will be the last four digits of your phone number. Youwill see an overview of your account. There will be a tab labeled‘Checkouts.’ Each item listed has a check box next to it on the left.Choose the items you want to renew by clicking on the boxes nextto them. Then click on the ‘Renew’ button at the top of the list.

  • Register for Homebound Delivery
    • The Nanuet Public Library is pleased to offer Homebound Delivery, a freeservice for our neighbors in need. If you are dealing with a temporary orpermanent disability and are physically unable to visit the library, volunteerswill mail or hand deliver library material to you. You may request specifictitles, or ask a librarian to make selections for you. Not all library material isavailable for homebound delivery.
